Homemade Taco Seasoning for Ground Beef

Once I have my homemade taco seasoning mixed together, I add it to 1lb ofground beef to make tacos or taco salad. After browning the ground beef in alarge skillet on the stove, I’ll add 2 ½ tablespoon to the beef in addition to1 tablespoon garlic-infused olive oil and ⅓ cup of tap water. Then, I sautéthe meat on low heat for 5-10 minutes until the liquid in the pan is mostlygone. The amount of taco seasoning you add may vary depending on your specifictaste. Be sure to taste the meat before serving.

How Much Taco Seasoning To Use Per Pound of Meat or Per Person

The taco seasoning packets you buy in the store are made for 1 pound of meat,contain roughly 2 tablespoons of seasoning and list 6 servings. That equatesto 1 tsp per person. My low carb taco seasoning recipe yields about ¼ cup ofseasoning and can be used to season 1 – 2 pounds of ground beef (enough tofeed 6-12 people). It really depends on how much flavor you want.

For a saucier ground beef

* I use a slurry to make my homemade ground beef saucy. Fill a shaker cup with ½ cup cold water or beef/vegetable stock. Add 1 ½ tablespoons all-purpose flour, masa or whole wheat flour to the liquid and cover it. Shake for at least 30 seconds. With the skillet on low heat, slowly stream in the slurry while stirring with a wooden spoon.
