How long to grill these chicken thighs?
Ask five cooks about how long to grill chicken thighs and you will most likelyget 5 different answers. The minimum safe internal temperature is 165F,according to USDA. Yet, unlike chicken breasts, chicken thighs usually tastebetter when cooked well past 165F mark. It’s because red chicken meat istougher than white meat and only benefits from longer cooking and higherinternal temperature to become more tender. This comes at the expense of meatlosing water and becoming dryer, but red chicken meat also has more fat so itdoesn’t taste dry even if cooked to 180F or 185F. That’s what I target fordry-rubbed grilled chicken thighs as they taste best when cooked to thistemperature. Now, marinated chicken thighs behave slightly differently. Even before chickenthighs hit the grill, the meat has already been tenderized by the marinade. That’s why it’s recommended to marinate overnight or even 24 hours for bestresults. Marinated chicken thighs will be very tender at 165F internal, or atleast that’s what my experience has been. Kingsford guys also recommendgrilling chicken thighs to 165F internal. And, of course, thighs are quite abit juicier if cooked to this temperature as they won’t lose as much moisturecompared to when cooked to a higher internal temperature. But that’s, ofcourse, a matter of taste. If you like your thighs cooked a little more, thereis nothing wrong with that.If you are after a very juicy, succulent grilled chicken thigh – marinate itovernight and don’t overcook.

My favorite chicken thigh marinade
I absolutely love marinating and cooking with beer. I’ve made so many greatrecipes with it – braised beef, beer chili, beer brats, beer dip, slow cookerbeef tacos. It’s such an easy way to add flavor to a recipe, and it’snaturally acidic so it’s perfect for tenderizing meat. This marinade uses beer as it’s base, just like my grilled chicken drumsticks,I’ve instead of lemon and rosemary, I used balsamic vinegar, Worcestershiresauce, BBQ dry rub. The flavor is intense, and so so good. I know you’re goingto love it.If you don’t want to use beer in this recipe, you could substitute it with asoda. Root beer or Dr. Pepper would be great with the rest of theseingredients. I think ginger ale would work really well, too.
Marinating chicken thighs before grilling
Whether or not using skin-on or skinless thighs, marinating chicken thighsbefore grilling is always a great idea. Not only marination will flavorizechicken meat inside out with salt and seasonings, it will also tenderize it.The meat will also absorb some moisture during marination, similar to whathappens during brining, and will come off the grill much juicier. In otherwords, if you want truly succulent grilled chicken thighs, you’ve got tomarinate them. But that process is slow, so make sure to marinate the chickenovernight for best results, or at least for a few hours. No meat can beproperly marinated in 20 minutes, unless it’s cut paper thin.

How to Make Frozen Chicken Thighs in the Air Fryer:
In order to make frozen chicken thighs in the air fryer, they must beindividually frozen and not stuck together. When frozen meat is stuck together, it won’t cook evenly resulting inovercooked and undercooked chicken at the same time. 1. Preheat your air fryer to 380 degrees. 2. Place the frozen chicken thighs in the air fryer and cook for 15-20 minutes flipping halfway. Coat the chicken with half of the honey soy marinade in this recipe whenflipping, if using. 3. Remove the chicken thighs from the air fryer and coat with additional marinade and enjoy!NOTE: If you would like a deeper golden brown crusting, you can turn your airfryer to 400 degrees for the final 1-2 minutes of cooking. I find my chickenthighs get golden brown with this marinade without this step.Other Air Fryer Recipes You’ll Love:Love air frying? Join our newsletter!
